Inspired by our brilliantly versatile tall tumblers, we turned to two aficionados for our favorite ways to fill the glass. First off, Kelly LeVeque is a nutritionist in Los Angeles known for her beWELL smoothies that have become as famous as her clients (hi, Jessica Alba). Her secret to success is loading up your green smoothie with protein rather than tons of fruit, leading to you feeling satiated and less likely to crash halfway through the morning. Here’s her Mojito-inspired recipe.
Use apples to sweeten the deal or include kale to pack more of punch.

- 1 Serving Vanilla Protein Powder
- 2 tbsp Coconut Oil
- 1 tbsp Chia Seed

Next up, we’ve got self-described “spirits nerd” Caley Shoemaker, the Bay Area-based head distiller for Hangar 1 vodka. We’re obsessed with her “Turn Up The Beet” (ha!) Bloody Mary because it’s a little sweet, a little different, and involves both bacon and veggies. How can you lose?
A bright twist on the classic, this bloody mary will wake you right up.
Turn Up the Beet Bloody Mary
- 4 oz chilled Hangar 1 Straight Vodka
- 1 ½ cups spicy tomato juice
- ½ cup pure beet juice
- 1 tbsp pepperoncini juice
- ½ small lemon (squeezed for juice)
- 1½ tsp freshly ground pepper
- ½ tsp horseradish
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- ¼ teaspoon ground garlic
- Your preference for hot sauce (to taste)
- Bacon salt and smoked paprika for rim
And don’t forget the most delicious, Instagrammable part – a stalk of celery, a beet, pickles and a rosemary-stuffed olive, all pierced with a toothpick.
